I have conflicted feelings about television commercials. For the most part they’re annoying pains in the ass. They assume that viewers are gullible retards, they make exaggerated claims, but most of all they’re horribly corny and derivative.
BUT, when they’re well-done I don’t mind the interruption into my enjoyment of reruns of “Beavis and Butt-head.”
I’m currently DVRing the new commercials from Old Spice. They’re that damn good. In fact, they’re so good that they’re funnier than actual parodies of Old Spice commercials.
Let this masculine gentleman explain why you should wear Old Spice.
If that wasn’t cool enough, Old Spice went all out and hired Bruce “Don’t Call Me Ash” Campbell as their spokesman. Here’s his fantastically groovy commercial:
What, you mean you aren’t familiar with the work of Bruce Campbell? Don’t tell me you missed out on “Evil Dead,” “Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn,” “Bubba Ho-Tep,” and his magnum opus, “Army of Darkness”? Well, you need to get to a Best Buy post-haste my friend. You have truly led a deprived life
Bruce is the man…plain and simple…”Hail to the king baby!”
“You’re only leading two things…jack and shit…. and jack left town.”
