A Whale’s Vagina
Right now I’m in San Diego with Leigh, who is attending a medial conference. I’ll be here until Sunday, and I hope to try and post some pictures and some anecdotes from our trip. My initial impression: the people here are too nice. Leigh arrived yesterday morning, and I arrived late last night. She picked […]
Working On It
I’m in the middle of upgrading my installation of WordPress. It’s gone okay, but there are several things that are still pretty much borked. I’ve disabled the categories on the right sidebar because for some reason during the upgrade, the categories in my database got screwed. I’m working on it. Experiencing Technical Difficulties
Our Troubles Are All The Same
I’m exhausted, so I’ll write a full wrap-up of my Boston trip tomorrow night. Till then, here are a few photos: Here I am at the Sam Adams brewery sampling some of their wonderful beer. I saw some of the native wildlife today. Cheers. It looks cool, but they have a huge gift shop. They […]
Can Someone Please Pronounce It “Bahstan” For Me? Please?!
I’m not a very good airplane passenger. I tend to get…well, nervous is a nice way to put it. Twitchier than a crackhead is another. But I’m proud to write that I made it to Boston with little to no flop-sweat on my brow. My conference doesn’t really begin until tomorrow, so today I just […]
Leaving On A Je…Wait, I’ve Used That Title Before Haven’t I?
I’m currently at the San Antonio airport on my way to Boston for a conference. I’ve got a layover in DFW, which apparently doesn’t have free wifi for some idiotic reason, and then I arrive this afternoon in the city of the Cream Pie (isn’t that what Boston is famous for? I’m fuzzy on my […]
1933-2008
Posts may be few and far between this week. My grandmother passed away last Wednesday, and I’m just not in the mood. I started to write a little something here in her memory, but I just can’t. If you’re interested, here’s the eulogy I read at her funeral. A special thanks goes out to Leigh […]
George Carlin 1937-2008
George Carlin “passed away” on Sunday. I spent most of yesterday listening to his CDs, laughing through my tears. There’s no way I’ll ever be able to describe the impact George had on me, so I won’t even try. I’ll just say that this whole blog, nearly the entire damn thing, is my pale imitation […]
Good Judgments
“I don’t have kids, but if I did I’d never allow them to….” “I seriously can’t believe Bush is President. I mean, I don’t vote, but he’s the absolute worst…” “You see that lady? Yeah, her. She’s got a dog, and it’s the most ill-behaved creature I’ve ever seen. Well, I don’t have dogs, but […]
A Little Bit Of This–A Little Bit Of That
I’ve got several posts coming up, but this one will just be a delightful smorgasbord of non sequiturs. As I’m writing this, Zooey Deschanel is on Letterman. She is appearing before Scott McClellan, which just blows my mind. A fly is circling her stupid head, which I find oddly fitting. Dave seems more interested in […]
Hello, I’m A Traffic-Whore. Nice To Meet You.
I’m a fairly cynical person, and for the most part I rely on the internet to supply me with the logic and reason that is sadly absent from real life. And no, I’m not being sarcastic. The thing about the internet is that while it’s filled with wackos and perverts, a discerning surfer knows how […]
